HISTORY

 

The Police Tribune Foundation, Inc. was established on November 10, 1995 by Ms. Conchita P. Barretto as its Founder and President together with fifteen (15) of her close associates like Olive Pagkatipunan, Genie Alison, Celso Pialan, Teodulo Pialan, Victor Cuestas and with the support of then active police officers P/S Supt. Ernesto Collado of Precint 9 and 5, QCPD, now retired;  P/S Supt. Antonio F. Abejo, Malacañan TOC now retired; P/Insp. Maurito Barretto, Precint 3, MPD, now retired with legal advice of Atty. Ramon Solis and Atty. Eliseo Barretto (both deceased), their posts presently occupied by Atty. Romeo de Leon and Atty.  Carmina Abbas.

 

     It was incorporated as an Association at the SEC in November, 1995 and later amended as a foundation on April 15, 2001 with present SEC Registry No. ANO9504195.  Originally, the purpose of the association was to provide scholarship to the deserving orphaned children of the police but in 2002, it expanded its services as a foundation to the sad flight of indigenous families and their children in the informal settlements (squatters) of Metro Manila. It provides emergency assistance to the families and medical and dental services, scholarship to deserving elementary, high school and college students in the districts of San Miguel, Malate, Paco, Tondo and some from Navotas and Quezon City. Currently, the foundation have thirty nine (39) scholars being served in these areas and intend to reach out for more in the future years.

 

     Police Tribune Magazine was also published November 10, 1995 with Ms. Ma. Olivia Pagkatipunan as Editor-in-Chief, Ms. Ching Pialan as Publisher-President and aforementioned police officers, financial partners, lawyers as member of the Board of Directors with SEC Registry No. 95-01195. Mayor Mel Mathay of Quezon City was its first cover.

 

     The Board of Police Tribune Magazine on May 17, 2001 filed an amended Articles of Incorporation with the SEC and by virtue of the amendment, the Police Tribune Foundation, Inc. became the official publisher of Police Tribune Magazine and was admitted as member of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI).
